Our Programs
Private Music Lessons
Allegro Music School offers private lessons to students ages 5 - adult on the piano, and ages 6 - adult on strings, woodwinds, voice, and percussion. Students meet weekly with one of our experienced instructors, typically for 30 minutes. Lessons include instruction in technique, music theory, music history, aural skills, and a variety of repertoire. Tuition for 30-minute lessons is $140/month with discounts for multiple siblings or additional/longer lessons each week. Visit our "Policies" page for more specific details on pricing. We provide lessons at Centenary United Methodist Church on Rivermont Avenue, the University of Lynchburg on Lakeside Drive, and New Covenant Schools for our NCS students.
For our piano students, we use a cutting-edge beginner method called The Piano ABC's to teach note reading, which helps our students graduate to "real music" very quickly. We always teach with the student's goals in mind, and we keep them involved in the selection of their music.
Private & Partner Art Lessons
We are also offering private and partner visual art lessons to students ages 6-12. Art lessons are a great way for students to express their ideas in a safe environment built to promote self-confidence and kindness.
Students meet weekly with our art teacher, Danielle Doctor, for either 30 or 60 minutes. Art lessons are offered at our Rivermont Avenue location only. Tuition for 60-minute private or partner lessons is $160/month.

Mini Musicians Class
We believe that learning an instrument should be fun, especially for our youngest students! This group class is designed for our early musicians interested in taking private lessons from our teachers at Allegro. Here, students will be able to learn the foundational elements of music through play and practice. This small group setting will fuel your student's musical curiosity while giving them the essential skills, such as simple rhythms/melodies and practice strategies, necessary for learning any instrument. It will also help them to build independence as they spend a short time away from their parents.
Students ages 4-6 are encouraged to complete this group class before taking private lessons.
This class will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 - 5:15 PM at the University of Lynchburg. Payment is $338 for the semester, or four monthly payments of $94.50 (September-December).

Group Recorder Class
For some, jumping into a band instrument without a foundation in musical literacy skills can create frustration or disappointment. This group recorder class will provide essential music literacy skills, introduce basic part playing, give students a try at a wind instrument to see if it is a good fit for them, and allow them to perform in a safe and encouraging environment!
Students will learn basic musical concepts, such as keeping a steady beat, note-reading, watching a conductor, and listening and blending as they play along with their peers.
This class will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 - 5:15 PM at the University of Lynchburg. Payment is $338 for the semester, or four monthly payments of $94.50 (September-December).

Through carefully structured rehearsals, students will explore the fundamentals of playing in an ensemble, including listening skills, balance and blend, musical expression, and proper orchestral etiquette.
Kate Dovgalyuk has been the strings director at various preschools and elementary schools in Virginia. Dr. Yevgeniy Dovgalyuk is the Associate Professor of Violin at Liberty University and Concertmaster of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra. Together, the Dovgalyuk's run the Liya Christian Ministry.

This past summer, we had so much fun hosting a Kindermusik camp, a music theory camp, and a next-level camp for older students!

Performance Opportunities
At Allegro we believe regular performance opportunities are an excellent way for students to learn how to work towards a long term goal, develop confidence, and use their music to contribute to others. We offer multiple recitals and other performance opportunities throughout the school year. These include fall recitals, Christmas recitals at River Ridge Mall, winter recitals, end-of-year recitals, and the possibility for others.
Allegro's end-of-year recital is a highlight of our school year. This is when we celebrate the accomplishments of all our students and enjoy performances from all levels, instruments and genres! Each of our students is invited to participate! We love how preparing for and executing an excellent performance can significantly boost a student's self-confidence.
