Our Programs
Private Music Lessons
Allegro Music School offers private lessons to students ages 5 - adult on the piano, and ages 6 - adult on strings, woodwinds, and voice. Students meet weekly with one of our experienced instructors, typically for 30 minutes. Lessons include instruction in technique, music theory, music history, aural skills, and a variety of repertoire. Tuition for 30-minute lessons is $135/month with discounts for multiple siblings or additional/longer lessons each week. Visit our "Programs" page for more specific details on pricing. We provide lessons at Centenary United Methodist Church on Rivermont Avenue, the University of Lynchburg on Lakeside Drive, and New Covenant Schools for our NCS students only.
For our piano students, we use a cutting-edge beginner method called The Piano ABC's to teach note reading, which helps our students graduate to "real music" very quickly. We always teach with the student's goals in mind, and we keep them involved in the selection of their music.
Allegro Voices
Allegro Voices is a community-focused youth chorus, composed of singers ages 7–17 who are passionate about music and serving through the arts. This ensemble has recently collaborated with Liberty University and the Seven Hills Chorus on several exciting projects, including large-scale community opera and performances celebrating American music and culture. Through these experiences, Allegro Voices continues to inspire young artists and enrich the community through the power of music.

Allegro Voices is still accepting new students for this semester! Rehearsals will begin in March and will culminate with a special performance with the Seven Hills Chorus titled, "Songs of America: 250 Years of Musical Heritage." We use the exact same curriculum as our private lessons! Even more than in private lessons, these classes offer students the opportunity to learn ensemble skills, with everyone playing together in a group! The peer support is a major benefit and students make new friends while learning to play the piano!
This class will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 6:00 PM at the University of Lynchburg. Payment is $328 for the semester, or four monthly payments of $92 (February-May).

Mini Musicians Class
We believe that learning an instrument should be fun, especially for our youngest students! This group class is designed for our early musicians interested in taking private lessons from our teachers at Allegro. Here, students will be able to interact and learn the foundational elements of music through play and practice. This small group setting will fuel your student's musical curiosity while giving them the essential skills, such as simple rhythms/melodies and practice strategies, necessary for learning any instrument. Students ages 3-5 are encouraged to complete this group class before taking private lessons. Sarah Healy has been a pre-K through 5th grade music teacher for multiple years and believes in teaching children to love music!

Through carefully structured rehearsals, students will explore the fundamentals of playing in an ensemble, including listening skills, balance and blend, musical expression, and proper orchestral etiquette.

Kate Dovgalyuk has been the strings director at various elementary schools in Fairfax County and has taught at St. Andrew Pre-School. Performance Opportunities
At Allegro we believe regular performance opportunities are an excellent way for students to learn how to work towards a long term goal, develop confidence, and use their music to contribute to others. We offer multiple recitals and other performance opportunities throughout the school year. These include fall recitals, Christmas recitals at River Ridge Mall, winter recitals, end-of-year recitals, and the possibility for others.

Allegro's end-of-year recital is a highlight of our school year. This is when we celebrate the accomplishments of all our students and enjoy performances from all levels, instruments and genres! Each of our students is invited to participate! We love how preparing for and executing an excellent performance can significantly boost a student's self-confidence.
