Caroline Petrick

Dr. Caroline Petrick holds a D.M.A. in Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature from James Madison University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Music Education with a cognate in Performance and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, both from Liberty University. During her time at Liberty, Dr. Petrick received several accolades, including the Music Theory/Arranging Student of the Year Award in 2018 and the Senior Pianist of the Year Award in 2019. It was during her studies that she discovered a love for teaching, serving as a music theory and musicianship tutor and as a teaching assistant for group piano.

Dr. Petrick currently serves as an adjunct professor at Liberty University, where she teaches group piano, applied piano lessons, music theory, and musicianship. She has also served as an adjunct instructor at Sweet Briar College and currently teaches piano to students of varying ages at Allegro Music School. In addition to her teaching roles, she regularly performs as a solo and collaborative pianist in the Lynchburg area. Dr. Petrick specializes in the research, analysis, and performance of modern and underrepresented piano repertoire, frequently featuring works by composers such as Louise Talma, Margaret Bonds, M. K. Čiurlionis, Béla Bartók, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. As both a performer and teacher, she is dedicated to promoting the music of lesser-known composers by introducing her students to engaging, expressive new repertoire.
