About

Visual Art

Allegro offers premium small-group art lessons for
students ages 6-12!

Art lessons in a group setting are a great way to build social-emotional skills.  With organized group activities and guided class discussions, students will have an opportunity to express their ideas about art in a safe environment built to promote self-confidence and kindness.

Through discussions about aesthetics, artistic intent, and visual language throughout history, students will be encouraged to develop an understanding of their own visual preferences while respecting the artistic choices of others.  These conversations are vital to the arts, as they help fuel imagination for creative problem-solving and foster a sense of belonging among students.

Each class will be 1-hour long and will start with a quick group discussion and activity.  Then, students will create their own artwork that demonstrates understanding of the concept for that day.

Each week will serve as an independent lesson,

with students completing a small art work to take home.*

Each week will focus on a different theme as we

explore emotions through abstract art,

atmospheric perspective in landscapes, classic

compositions, stylization vs. realism, and more.

* Art may need to dry and be picked up at a later time

During the summer, students are encouraged to take multiple classes to

get the most out of this experience.  Each class will focus on a new

technique, method, style, or material.

Summer lessons will be held at Allegro Music School on

Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg.

Classes will not depend on the material

covered in prior weeks.  However, attending regular lessons will greatly improve technical skills, understanding of materials and vocabulary, and create an enjoyable routine where students can build relationships with their peers.

All high-quality art supplies are included!
